Others

Significant achievements in research & development
  • Indigenous shrimp feed technology using indigenous raw materials and machineries were developed with on par quality to imported technology with considerable reduction in cost of the final product. These cost effective feeds were commercialized to the entrepreneurs from different states of India.
  • Developed and commercialized a cost effective feed PolyPlus for brackishwater poluculture of fish and shrimp and technology transferred to M/s. NRG Feeds Ltd., West Bengal.
  • Refined the seed production technology of one of the most important brackishwater catfish, Mystus gulio to improve the breeding performance and larval survival and transferred the technology to Dept. of Fisheries, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh.
  • Implemented land shaping models and brackishwater aquaculture models in six villages of Sundarban as CCPI under NAIP project with budgetary outlay of Rs. 3.67 crores and 172.57 ha degraded coastal area brought under improved cultivation involving 3214 farmer beneficiaries of Sundarban, West Bengal.
  • For the first time milkfish (Chanos chanos) culture with hatchery produced seeds was demonstrated in farmers pond of West Bengal with 3 ton/ha production. The cost of production was Rs. 70-80/ kg and it had a ready market of Rs. 150/ kg.
  • Developed model integrated farm with nine ponds of 1500 sq. m each and one pond of 3000 sq. m and two reservoirs of 1 ha each covering an area of about 5 ha with financial support of NAIP at ICAR-CIBA, Kakdwip Research Centre. West Bengal.
  • Developed pilot scale feed mill for preparation of aquafeed with a capacity of 2 ton /hour at ICAR-CIBA, Kakdwip Research Centre, West Bengal with a financial support of about 1 crore from NAIP to cater the need of Sundarban farmers and Institute’s farm.
